White just does normal moves, it will show how weak e3 is to e4.

more protective than e4 and wont get attacked in a positive sense. In a negative sense it doesn't control or attack a central square:(

this opening is okay, but for more advanced chess players you shouldn't use this opening because it's kind of a waste of time and e4 is much better.

It's not so bad actually. If black plays 1...e5 white plays 2.d4 and it looks like french defense, only that white has the initiative. I call this opening "french attack", in a slightly ironic tone since its not really an attack. Confusing but solid openings are very good on low time controls.

But isn't that just wasting time? Why would you take two moves to get to a position you can get to in one? The move a3 doesn't force the move e4, so I don't understand why you would do that, even if your goal was to move into the Roy Lopez or such.

This opening can turn into a reverse Italian Game/Ruy Lopez/etc. if black plays 1...e5 and then white plays 2. e4.
