I'm with AHSChess on this one. 1.c3 is almost exclusively what I play: I don't need to know any white openings, I only need to study the Sicilian and the Benoni (for 1.c3 d5 2.c4). These are both combative black openings, so it's a good chance I can score a full point.

It works like gangbusters (or at least it would if I played a real sicilian and not the 2...Qa5 garbage). Plus, thanks to the virtue of having white, I can switch it if I think I'm going to play against a Sicilian killer, for example: 1.c3 e5 2.d4 or 2.e4?!. It's a nice way to try and force an opening.

1.e3 and 1.d3 aren't quite as good, though.

Never forget, it's all about the center.  It's too early to comment on further development, but without careful follow-thru, white may lose the first move advantage.

1. c3-e5 2. c4 and white has black's position in the Sicilian Defense.

Not advisable.Since White has the privilage of the first move he must make sure that he controls the center as much as possible.
