The Magnus Effect

Submitted by benws on Thu, 10/09/2008 at 3:45pm.

We've all heard of the great Magnus Carlsen and his achievements. So here's my little tribute to him: a game that will probably make its way into the tactics books within the near future.

For some reason I don't take him quite so seriously. Is he really in the league as a Kramnik or an Anand?

I think that Kamsky goes into his Topalov match as an underdog, and if he won would go into the finals also as an underdog. But those other three - they are excellent players, and I don't think that Carlsen is quite yet in their league.

I took a while to realize that 28...Ke7 is also losing from just half a move into the game. Carlsen probably knew that by the time he castled. What does he eats?

Brilliant tactic mind .

This game reminds me the great Paul.

I wish I could see half the way Magnus see.

I'm better than him. ;-)

Seriously though, this is the sort of stuff that seperates the men from the boys.
